Did you know...

that there is a long tradition of something known as twilight language and that if should happen to learn to read twilight language; or as it is known "Pricking your tongue with the thorn of truth." you would learn to read many things in common objects? Do you believe this is true?

One time at dragoncon...

I came upon Voltaire, standing on the landing of a grand staircase between two floors he had two empty bottles of jack daniels at his feet and was swaying and furiously playing when you're evil it was a fairly awesome moment, that I will never forget for his eyes were on fire, as he played his violin into the night.

Bonus shot: Here he is covering Tori Amos' caught a lite sneeze

Picture!

Me, undisclosed location, undisclosed time.

Bonus: Rocky being a gangster.

Five simple steps to immediate wealth.

Memes are fun aren't they? I wonder how many people know about meme theory, I can't see it being alot; but when you meet someone else that understands that words are a virus; you both share a knowledge of the inside dope. Memes make me think of William S Burroughs, and they make me think of Grant Morrison. I think both of these men were onto something. I think they worked different sides of the same game. Then also meme theory for me has led to directly to the more arcane usage of sigilization. I feel like that is where things get interesting because it is systematic and efficient for life change. Anyways; thank you for listening to me about memes;
Perhaps in the next installment I will speak about the five immediate things that lead to ultimate confidence
Peace Out!

Does this make me shallow?

Disclaimer: I am not trying to be a drama llama I have much respect for anyone with the courage to be a model but...If you post a picture on facebook and disable the comment section...I think it is selfish and shows either a disdain for the people around you, or it shows that your self image cannot take criticism...either way I hate it.
I feel that if you present something to the public it needs to be open to criticism of a positive sort at least. I feel it will help anyone's art to be open to criticism. It just doesn't sit right with me. That is all.

Coming soon...

I hopefully will have two interviews for your reading pleasure: Sam Nettles and Gwynn AB
also, I am in negotiations with a photo scene correspondent. I am hoping I will be able to announce that soon, as she rocks.
Keep tuned in for further information

Susan Boyle and Jean Baudrillard

So I listened to the Susan Boyle version of Wild Horses on Grooveshark and at first I thought "This is nice"
then I realized that it was starting to make me uneasy and I realized that horror that she must feel. She isn't Annie Lennox no matter how much she sounds like her. She is a simulacrum of Annie Lennox and realizing that, I realized it was Susan Boyle who epitomized the inevitable self referential hell that pop music has become.
She is a copy of a copy. This is not to say that she doesn't have her charm, she does. Still I think that she is ultimately empty calories, a post modern puzzle that has been born of such concepts as "musical dna" and the growing "reality tv" market. This of course means that reality and tv are now the same thing. Ordinary people all over the world who are acting like complete morons in hope that someone is pointing a camera at them.

I love photography

I really do, sometimes I feel like I could have been a photographer in a past life. I really enjoyed taking a class on it, and I have been yearning to have a darkroom for years. My new favorite toy is my hipstamatic camera on my iphone. Yes, some of the lenses are cheesy pseudo photoshop gimmicks; but I feel like coupled with a good sense of composition, which I feel I have, that it is possible to squeeze some really evocative pics out of it.
Here are a few of the pictures I have taken

Shout out

Hey I wanted to let you all know about a neat website I found http://emptyeasel.com/art-tutorials/. That is a direct link to the art tutorials, but there are other items of interest on there for any sort of artist.
If you like this site or have others to recommend let me know in the comments.

Art History Project.

I am interested in learning about  Pensacola artists and the art scene as it was in the 80's and early to mid 90's
Do any of you fine readers have any anecdotes, pictures, or any information about those in the art grind back in the day? If so, please post them to the comments, thankyousomuch!

Tonight is...

gallery night, and I just cannot make it. I have been so busy with Jef Bond's Art Party and my own work that I felt if I pushed too much more I would be in a bad place. So tonight I am taking things easy.
Please though, in the comment section tell me about your Gallery Night adventures.

Why I am starting this blog.

I am starting this blog because of my love for the art and artists along the gulf coast and my desire to offer a forum of recognition for artists below the radar and on the rise that I admire.
I live in Pensacola Florida, and I will be talking mostly about the art scene around my home town. Although I am always looking to expand my horizons and I travel alot so I will indubitably be writing about other areas of artistic interest in the broader south.

So, here is to the start of a hopefully fruitful journey.
